Santa Monica Pier 4.27.08

This is a great location that was suggested to me by several of my friends. I happen to capture this recording while there was some kind special event. There were several stages where young students were performing classical music. Tents where artists were showing off their latest works of art. Afterwards I walked through the regular pier attractions, which include a carousel, an arcade, and a miniature amusement park.

Santa Monica Farmers Market on Main St. 04.27.08

Every Sunday, farmers from all over Southern California assemble on main street in order to bring us their freshest fare. People come here to shop for a variety of fruits, vegetables, nuts, cheeses, and other delicious items. Then they stay for the freshly prepared meals and live entertainment. One can also experience a pony ride, although I recommend that this one is strictly for the kids. ;)

Long Beach Aquarium 4.26.08

Today I decided to take my folks to the Long Beach Aquarium. I've heard really good things about it from my friend Gary, so I finally checked it out for myself. As you may already know, fish don't make much sound, but I was still able to capture their presence through peoples reactions to their unique beauty.



I was surprised that in addition to all of the sea life, there were also several bird exhibits, including a huge cage full of Lorikeets. These colorful birds were making lots of noise as they chased each other through their habitat.

Soccer At Clover Park 4.23.08

Every Wednesday a bunch of my friends and I get together at Clover Park to play some soccer. Clover park is in close proximity to the Santa Monica Airport, hence you can hear a lot of airplane sounds. I didn't play this time due to a minor injury, so I decided that would be a great opportunity to capture some audio. Sounds like my friend Ho had a pretty good game.

Temescal Canyon 4.20.08

It was a beautiful day, so I decided to go for a hike at my favorite local trail. This trail is tucked away in the middle of Pacific Palisades, about 10 minutes away from Santa Monica. There are many trails in this area, but my favorite is a loop that takes about 1 hour to hike. As you hike you will encounter calming bird songs, rushing waterfalls, reptiles, and rustling of the leaves. There is plenty of parking, which is only $5, and as my friend Jason found out, motorcycles do not park for free. :(

This audio was captured while walking on the 3rd street promenade in Santa Monica. I walked through all 3 blocks, which are filled with stores, restaurants and street performers. This is a famous destination not only for tourists but also for locals looking for a fun time.

Wildflour on Main St. 4.18.08

Its getting warm again, this means that its time for beach volleyball and Wildflour with my buds. We get together after work and play some volleyball in Santa Monica. Afterwards the fun continues with engaging conversations, delicious pizza, and cold beer at Wildflour, a pizza joint on Main St. in Venice. This is a recording was created in the back patio as we chat away waiting for he food. Unfortunately I don't have any images of the event because my iPhone did not save the photos. :(

Manhattan Beach Fireworks 12.16.07

My friends Stan and Diana invited me to join them in Manhattan beach for the holiday fireworks show. We got there pretty late so it took us a while to find a parking spot. It was show-time, and there we were running towards the beach. Luckily we got there just as the first shots went off. We all had a blast! literally!

Venice Beach Boardwalk 4.18.08

This audio was captured while walking on the world famous Venice Beach Boardwalk. On this track you can hear the diversity of sounds that make this location what it is. You can hear street performers, merchants, tattoo shops, and the people enjoying a beautiful day in Venice. And the best part is that this craziness exists right outside my apartment.
